Key Science Concepts
- There are many different colors.
- A single color can have different shades from very light to very dark.
Directions
Tell children they’ll play a guessing game with colors, called I Spy. In the guessing game, we’ll also describe colors, the way the boy in the video described his purple paint as grape and the girl described the pink as bubble gum.
- Model a few rounds:
- I spy with my little eye something that is red like an apple.
- I spy with my little eye something that is yellow like a sunflower.
- I spy with my little eye something that is gray like a sidewalk
- Then have each child secretly choose a colored object in the room, and say: I spy with my little eye something that is ____ like a ________. Have the group try to guess what it is.
