NARRATOR:
But when Peep and Quack
reached the prickly bush,

they were in for a big surprise.

PEEP:

CHIRP:

PEEP:

Because that's not Chirp!

And that's when Chirp
had her big idea.

( Quack screams )

( mumbling ):
I'm flying!

NARRATOR:
"I'm flying!" said Chirp
excitedly.

But since she had string
in her mouth,

it didn't come out very well.

PEEP ( giggling ):

( continues giggling )

( Peep grunts )

QUACK:
Peep, come back here
this minute.

You don't know how to fly!

NARRATOR:
Unfortunately, the round floaty
thing wouldn't fly very high

with three birds hanging onto
it... or two, for that matter.

So Peep, knowing how much
Chirp wanted to fly...

did a very noble thing...

He let go!

PEEP:
Good-bye, Chirp!

( garbled ):
Good-bye, Peep!

NARRATOR:
Chirp was finally doing what she
had always wanted to do... fly!

CHIRP:
Uh-oh!

( gasps )

( grunting )

( sighing )

NARRATOR:
And it was all so beautiful,
she just had to sing...

( Chirp mumbling song )

PEEP:
Chirp! Chirp!

Hi!

QUACK:
Quack! Quack!

( Quack panting )

Flying!

Ha!

If birds were meant to fly,

we wouldn't have feet.

You know what I'm saying?

Don't worry, Chirp!

NARRATOR:
But Chirp wasn't worried
at all, until...

CHIRP:
Uh-oh!

NARRATOR:
Uh-oh... Chirp had forgotten
about Big Bay!

She had to get down in a hurry.

Otherwise, she'd float out
to sea and be lost forever!

Or... for a very long time!

CHIRP ( mumbling ):

NARRATOR:

She was too high to let go.

( birds cawing )

NARRATOR:
And then, in the nick of time...

FIRST BLUE JAY:

A flying Chirp!

SECOND BLUE JAY:
With a ballmoon!

FIRST BLUE JAY:
A red ballmoon!

CHIRP ( mumbling ):

FIRST BLUE JAY:

SECOND BLUE JAY:

CHIRP ( mumbling ):

FIRST BLUE JAY:
Oh, I get it.

SECOND BLUE JAY:
Ballmoons are for popping...

FIRST BLUE JAY:
And for parties...

SECOND BLUE JAY:
And circuses.

FIRST BLUE JAY:
But you can't let them go!

SECOND BLUE JAY:

FIRST BLUE JAY:
If you do, they'll...

SECOND BLUE JAY:
...fly to the moon.

FIRST BLUE JAY:
Right up to the moon!

CHIRP ( mumbling ):

FIRST BLUE JAY:

NARRATOR:
But the blue jays
were about to discover

the same thing that Peep had:

too many birds
hanging onto a "ballmoon"

pull it down, down, down.

Luckily, that gave Chirp
the chance to hop off.

( Chrip giggling )

( squawking )

SECOND BLUE JAY:
I've got it!

I've got the ballmoon!

Uh-oh!

Hey!

FIRST BLUE JAY:
Come back, ballmoon!

SECOND BLUE JAY:
Wait for us!

FIRST BLUE JAY:
Come back!

( cawing )

PEEP:
Chirp!

Are you okay?

What happened?

NARRATOR:
Chirp, for the first time
in her life, was speechless.

It was just too much excitement
for a little bird.

QUACK:
I warned you!

I warned you!

I told you that flying
is for the birds!

( panting )

( quacking )

But I am a bird.

QUACK:
Oh.

Well...

CHIRP:
And I was meant to fly.

And someday, I will.

PEEP:
Of course you will, Chirp.

Someday.

NARRATOR:
And later, that night,
that's exactly what Chirp did.

CHIRP:
Flying.

( snoring gently )
