Trees are nice to have around for many different reasons.

Directions

Before you read: Show children the cover, and read the title and author’s name. Have them describe what they see on the cover. Point to the cat in the tree and ask, Why do you think the cat thinks trees are nice?

After you read: Ask children, What were some of the things the children in the book did with trees? Have you done some of these same things? (Apple picking, swinging from a branch, raking leaves into a pile, climbing a tree.) Ask them to name some of the reasons they think trees are nice.
