Review today’s explorations and ideas about plants and vegetables.

  • Ask children to recall and describe the differences between the cooked and uncooked potatoes.
  • Have them show their drawings of the root and leaf salad. Ask, Which ones are leaf vegetables and which ones are root vegetables? Ask children to talk about the ingredients of other salads they have tried before.
  • Gather around the Watch Them Grow center and check on the growing salad sprouts. Do they notice any changes since they began growing them yesterday?
  • Have children review the “Our Plants” chart. Have them point out any changes they’ve noticed in the roots, stems, and leaves of the bean, grass, and onion plants they are growing. Ask, Which of these plants can provide us with food?  What about the grass—can you think of what might eat grass for food?
