Shapeshifters

Activities: Next Activity

Snacktimes and mealtimes are great times to explore how shapes fit together. When you make a sandwich for your child, try cutting it in a new way—such as four squares—and invite your child to experiment with the shapes as he eats. Suggest he take the four squares apart and then use two of them to make a rectangle. What happens when you cut the sandwich into triangles? How can he put two small triangles together to make one big triangle? How can he put them together to make a square? What other foods work well for learning about shapes and how they fit together? Experiment with pizza, apples, and crackers too!
