Get some tempera paint and a Styrofoam meat tray. Cut up some smooth brown paper grocery bags.

Collect a variety of household items that have interesting shapes and won't be harmed by being dipped in paint! A fork, a piece of sponge, or a potato or apple cut in half are some ideas.

Pour a little paint on a Styrofoam meat tray and have your child dip each item in the paint. Make prints with the item across the brown paper grocery bags. If you feel really adventurous, paint your child's hands and feet and encourage her to make tracks of her own!

Later on, look at the dried prints together and see if you can match the prints to the items that made them.
